About Djabugay Native Title Corporation
Djabugay Native Title Aboriginal Corporation was formed in 1998 and recognised under the CATSI Act (2006) after winning native title in 2004. The corporation has two corporate members, Buda:dji Aboriginal Development Association and Djabugay Tribal Aboriginal Corporation. All three focus on improving the lives of Djabugay people with a focus on culture, country and futures. Our corporations are not for profit and work to the agenda of the community and community needs.
For the Djabugay people, a Native Title determination in 2004 recognised their connection to country as Traditional Owners and gave an opportunity to have a say on the management of the park. The Corporation works to its plan for the area, which acts to guide the development of a joint management model towards social, cultural and economic benefits for the Djabugay people.
The objectives of the corporation are to:
- Contribute to improved social, economic and community outcomes through consultative and strategic choices.
- Promote equitable treatment of Djabugay people and work toward healing the impacts of colonisation.
- Support Djabugay people to participate in treaty and truth telling, recognition of rights, agreement making, history and related activities, forum and agenda.
